5. Give the characteristic features of temperate deciduous forests?
Ans: The characteristic features of temperate deciduous forests are that they have broad leaves and they shed their leaves in autumn season.
6. Give some local names of the temperate grasslands.
Ans: The local names of the temperate grasslands are:
Prairies in Northern America, Steppes in Russia, Pampas in Argentina, Downs in Australia, and Veld in the Southern America.
7. Describe the wildlife of Australia.
Ans: Australia is a continent rich in wildlife. Many of the animals are Marsupials. Marsupials are those animals who carry their young ones in a pocket of skin on the mother's stomach (called the pouch). The Marsupials found here are Kangaroo, Wallaby, and Koala. Wild dogs like Dingo are found here. Platypus can also be found here. The important birds are Lyrebird, Emu, and Kookaburra.
8. Write a note on the conservation of forests.
Ans: Forests are very important for the survival of all the beings on the earth. Depletion of forests have a direct impact on the Wildlife. Thus, the forests need conservation.
9. Write a note on the conservation of wildlife.
Ans: Forests are cut down for human needs. This has created risk to the wildlife as forests are their natural home. There must be control over reckless hunting. Suitable laws are to be made against it. National Parks, Biosphere Reserves, and Zoological Parks, are to be set up to safeguard the lives of wild animals and birds.

1. Describe the natural vegetation found in tropical monsoon forests and temperate evergreen forests.
Ans: The Natural vegetation found in tropical monsoon forests are of deciduous nature. The main species are Sal, Deodar, Rosewood, Bamboo, etc.
Temperate Evergreen forests are of mixed variety. Important species are Oak, Pine, Walnut, Mulberry, Bamboo, etc. The timber from these forest is very valuable.
2. Describe the wildlife of India, Africa, and South America.
Ans: India has a rich and varied wildlife. Various kinds of wild animals and birds are found in Indian forest. Among the animals Elephant, Rhinoceros, Tiger, Lions, etc. are important animals.
Africa is home to the most amazing variety of wildlife. Dense Equatorial forests, swamps, and grasslands are the ideal homes for a great variety of animals. Elephants, Wild Buffalos, Monkeys, Pythons, etc. are found.
South America is also rich in wildlife. The Amazon basin is home to a variety of birds and animals. Many colorful species of birds are found here.
